Trinity Academy Cathedral is an exciting and inspirational place to be. We believe that there are many factors that contribute to this unique environment – from our distinct Christian ethos, to our innovative curriculum and approach to rewarding students.

We are here to make a difference to the community. Our vision is to each student within our care to achieve their potential. We do this through high-quality teaching delivered in an environment characterised by our Christian values.

I have great pleasure in welcoming you to Trinity Academy Cathedral.

As Principal, I have great pleasure in welcoming you to Trinity Academy Cathedral, Wakefield’s only Church of England Secondary school, rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2022 and the winner of the TES Secondary School of the Year 2019. Our vision is to offer the best possible experience for all of the children and young people in our care, and an experience that prepares them for life.

Students and parents are joining the academy at an exciting time. Trinity Academy Cathedral is part of the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), a family of schools delivering consistently outstanding education for children and young people across the region. As Principal, I am working with staff and students to translate those successes here. This is about building upon what works, and providing our students with new and exciting opportunities in and outside of the classroom.

Of course, as Principal, I am working with staff to have a strong focus upon academic results. These results are what open doors for our young people, build a reputation with their future employers and make a difference within our community. Therefore I am delighted that our results are the best in Wakefield and have been in the top 10% in the country for the past three years.

At Cathedral we teach our students to embrace our vision statement ‘Everything is possible’. We encourage students to be ambitious and inquisitive in their learning, understanding that resilience is a key quality to develop.

We are extremely privileged to have two pathways. The first is our broad and balanced Cathedral main pathway which most students follow. However, we also have our CAPA Juniors programme. This enables young people with a real desire to pursue a career in the Arts to gain a solid grounding in this field whilst still receiving a formal education. Of course, not all students wish to pursue such a path, but the blend of students this attracts makes for a wonderful, very special atmosphere.

If you are a parent looking for a school that values each child as an individual, and provides an experience that enables them to achieve more personally and academically, then we look forward to welcoming you to Cathedral. Please feel free to contact us to ask any questions or arrange to look around, so you can see our community in action. Please contact us if you require a paper copy (free of charge) of any of the information detailed on our website.
